Why does airplay not appear as an option when I option-click the speaker in the menu bar? It appears fine in itunes.

I am resorting to use a third party audio streamer for airplay audio, as I can no longer choose my airplay compatible device from either the audio panel in system preferences, or the menu bar speaker icon (option click).

These devices appear just fine in itunes and I can stream music, however, i cannot stream spotify for example or browser audio. Is this a feature that has been removed in OSX?

I am currently running 10.11.4 beta, but this has been missing for a while

Hope someone can shed some light on this

You seem to have sent instructions on how to use airplay with IOS devices.

However as previously stated I have an issue with OSX.

To clarify - I am sending from a Macbook pro to an airplay enabled device.

I used to be able to option-click on the speaker in the toolbar to send

audio to these devices, and now I can't. I wondered whether the change was

intentional or a bug in El Capitan.

Airplay can be switched on and off to these devices in itunes, but I cannot

send system audio anymore.

The disabling of airplay mirroring for video is understandable, as older

graphics cards don't have the grunt to mirror, however airplay audio has

worked fine for years, it just seems that some pretty basic features are

missing.

Many Thanks
